NORTHERN LIGHTS
ALASKA
February 28 - March 6, 2010
$2,795       Deposit:  $500
Airport:  Fairbanks, Alaska

Every 11 years or so, our sun enters a period of increased activity, a period when the amount of discharged
radiation goes up dramatically.  This
Solar Maximum has the potential to interfere with satellite, radio and
TV transmissions, and even distrupt electric power grids.  More importantly
however, the increase in
radiation creates incredible displays of the aurora, and the next Solar Maximum is predicted to occur in
2010 or 2011.

Even a weak Northern Lights display is a magical sight to
behold as with
wild brush strokes impossible patterns are
painted across the night sky in
neon green.  During the
Solar Maximum, not only is the display larger
and more
intense, reds and violets are added to the celestial palette.
The
area around Fairbanks, Alaska is one of the best
places in the world to
see the aurora, and early March
is one of the clearest times of the year.  It's
the ideal time
to experience this wonder of nature, and we'll be doing so
in
a variety of picturesque locations, including 2 nights at
Chena Hot Springs.

During the days, participants will have to choose between
a variety of
activities, including photographing winter
scenics and activities, enjoying the
World Ice Art
Championships, dogsledding, cross-country skiing and

relaxing--in a hot spring or beside a fire.  The nights are
reserved for the
Northern Lights.

As with all of our tours, the price includes transportation from Fairbanks, 6 nights lodging, breakfasts and dinners
for 6 days, entrance fees, instruction and critiques.
